Spending Time with Haley & Mitchell

I went down to my moms for Easter Sunday and stayed until yesterday. I got back last night. Yesterday was so beautiful and sunny we drew with chalk outside and spun around in the yard.

Above: Here is Haley and Mitchells matching "I Heart DC" shirts that we got in DC last month.

My Little Doodlers

The boys are soooo ready for spring! They have already started digging! And a few of the neighbors dogs came over to visit and the boys were causing trouble and started a fight!

I didnt do much today but finish working on an invitation order and fart around with my seedlings, Today was day one of acclimating them outdoors. I REALLY want warmer weather! The ground is still soggy! Blah! Spring must come soon! And if it snows again I swear! I am moving to the Bahamas! LOL! Goodnight all!

Washington DC - Day 1

Sunday March 15th, 2009 - Washington DCThis is us on the way to go up in the Washington Monument
This is inside the Washington Monument waiting to go up 500 feet in the elevator. It was such a neat experience.
This is Haley waiting in line for the Holocaust Museum.

The front of the building. We couldnt take any photos inside the building but this museum was really neat. Kind of depressing, but neat to see everything.
This is me up in the Washington monument 1 floor down from the viewing windows.

Check later posts for the rest of the photos

Washington DC - Day 2

Monday, March 16th 2009 - Our 2nd Day in Washington DCThere are some georgous buildings downtown DC. This was our walk to Fords Theatre and The Wax Museum.

West Elm - Didnt have time to go in, but the building was beautiful.
This is the house across the street from Fords Theatre where President Lincoln died.

Our ticket.

Inside Fords Theatre, the box where President Lincoln was shot.

Inside the box where he was shot.

We toured the house where he died.
This is the bed he died in.

This is the wax museum. Me with President Bush...We all looked awful, walking in the rain with hats on and off... Made my hair look crazy!
President Lincoln

Ahhh...I am being interogated!

My sisters and I with the Kennedys. We dressed up in the coats.

The Rock - I soooooo wanted to jump on him. Rarrrr! ;)

Amanda with Tom Cruise - There were so many...from presidents to movie stars...I would reccommend going here. It only cost about $18 per person but it was so neat and well worth it.

After the Wax Museum we ate at the Hard Rock Cafe...which was very cool! Yummy food too.
This is when we went to one of the Smithsonians - These are on of the pairs of Ruby Slippers wore in The Wizard of Oz. My sister is a collecter of Wizard of Oz, she has even met some of the munchkins, we used to go to the Wizard of Oz festival in Chesterton Indiana every year when we were little. She still goes.

Medical Wagon used in the Spanish American War in the 1800's

Helicopter

This was neat but sad to see... These were support beams that were in the Twin Towers on September 11th. They were from the 17th floor.

Liberty Bell.
This is the Metro Station. If you are planning on ever visiting, you can buy a day pass to the Metrorail and it takes you all over DC. It saves a lot of walking for only $7.80 a day. I fell asleep on it a few times. ;)

Washington DC Trip Pictures - Day 3

This was Tuesday, March 17th - This is day 3 of our trip in Washington DC
This is our trip to the National Zoo
This is a wall done with mosaic tiles.

This is Haley & I posing with a bear and baby bear statue.

Here is a sloth toed bear...His name was Melvin.

This is Amanda - Amanda Panda that is.

Here is a giant panda.

Here is Haleys favorite, a cheetah.

Here is an african elephant. They are HUGE!

Haleys hand in an imprint of a T-Rex handprint

This was the Botanical Gardens building (which was also free) by the Capital Building, we were not even going to go and see this but we had to use a bathroom, glad we did have to pee because this was amazing. I would highly recommend seeing this if you ever go to DC. Great photos.
Tropical Plants

This place smelled amazing.

This was a neat looking flowering plant. I wish I would have had time to see all the names of the plants I liked. Amanda had an itinerary, and this was not on it. ;)

Just some photos I snapped while walking from destination to destination.

The White House, with some very good looking Secret Service guys. And they were very friendly...Not great with directions, but nice looking so that makes up for the lack of direction giving. ;) My sister has those pictures. I will make sure to post them.

All three of us.

This picture is one of my favorites of the trip...I didnt even realize that My little sister Haley was sitting in front of the water display at the WWII Memorial with the Lincoln Memorial in the background.
Here is all 3 of us in front of the Capital Building.

WWII Memorial

More random...Arent these doors neat looking?

Washington Monument with the Capital Building behind.

WWII Monument - Sorry they are out of order.

Vietnam Memorial Wall

Air Force Pics for the Hubby.

Vietnam Statues.

Lincoln Memorial - This is a must see. So huge!

Korean War Memorial - FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

I love this wall- This is part of the Korean War Memorial.

At night lit up - It is such a breathtaking place. Everywhere you look there are amazing things to see. This is the WWII Memorial with the Lincoln Memorial behind.

Downtown China Town - When you get off the Metro you see this arch. It really smells like China!
Funny story: My Sister turned around in front of one of the restaurants to see a HUGE RAT running from a building to an alley. We decided to eat McDonalds that night.

It was neat to see...But the weirdos definatley do come out at night in China Town.
Thanks for looking! If you ever visit DC, make sure you bring comfortable shoes. There was ALOT of walking. It is definatley something that I am thankful to have see in my lifetime.
